Bishop Bennie Nelson

Bishop bennie Nelson was born in Sweden, February 7, 1895. Bennie was carpentering in St. James, Minnesota, when he was saved, in the fall of 1917. He entered the ministry almost immediately. He was assoiated with the Church at St. James and then Red Wing with Elder Oscar Arnson; working as loggers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
He became a Bishop in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World on October 5, 1943. He served on the Bishop Board until he became ill and placed on the inactive list.
Bishop Nelson passed away in Phoenix, Arizona, january 1, 1971, at the age of 75, after several years of serious sickness. Bishop Nelson and his wife moved back to phoenix in 1969 to find a warmer climate because of his failing health.
Funeral services were was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, january 5, 1971. District Elder Louis H. Ervin officiated, assisted by Bishop L.E. Brisbin.
