Dr. Gary W. Garrett was born on October 21, 1957 in the city of Joplin, MO. The third child born to Dr. William J. and Mickey Garrett. Gary has always been an achiever! He learned to play the drums at the age of twelve. Brought up in church, he was baptized in Jesus' name, and received the Holy Ghost in 1970, during a revival preached by Rev. Johnny Hair. At the age of thirteen he felt his call to the ministry. In 1974, at the age of 16 he preached his very first sermon, titled, "We Shall Overcome".
Gary started at the lowest rung, and worked his way through the ranks of his father's church. First as a Sunday School teacher, then as youth leader. In 1977, he was ordained in the city of Kings Port, TN. as a member of the Apostolic Ministers Fellowship. He traveled as an Evangelist for several years in the AMF. After coming off the field, Gary became an Assistant to his father in Joplin. From 1979 to 1980 Gary was the speaker on his Radio Broadcast calld "Sounds of Truth".
After graduating from high school in 1976, Gary pursued a journey of higher education. He earned the following degrees: Associates in Biblical Studies, Bachelors in Biblical Studies, Masters in Theology, Dr. of Ministry, (2) Dr. of Divinity, Dr. of Litt, Dr. of Church History, and Dr. of Philosophy in Religion. He is the author of several books, including the best selling, authorized biography of Bishop GT. Haywood, entitled, "A Man Ahead of His Times".
Gary is the founder of the Apostolic Archives Internatinal, Inc. He turned a private collection of audio and literary materials into one of the most recognized repositories of Apostolic Pentecostal history in the world.
Gary is married to his childhood sweetheart, Deborah Spell Garrett. Together they have four children and eleven grandchildren. Gary is the Sr. Pastor of Grace Church in Joplin, MO.
