Pastor Josephine Diggs

 

Pastor Josephine Diggs is one of six children. Born on August 16, 1932 to the late, honorable Bishop William S. Barnes and the sainted Mother Geneva M. Barnes.

Pastor Diggs began her spiritual walk with God in her youth at the First Apostolic Faith Church, located at Monument and Eden Street. She received the Holy Ghost at the age of seventeen at St Paul Church of God in Christ Jesus Apostolic, Inc. then located Jefferson and Caroline Street.

Pastor Diggs became a member of St. Paul at its humble conception in 1945. Pastor Diggs and her sister Delores Barnes have the distinction of being the only surviving members who were present for the entire history of the church.

On July 7, 1956 Pastor Diggs married the honorable Deacon Frontis Diggs Jr. From this union were born three daughters: Debra, Vanessa, and Lisa. She is the grandmother of Hannah and Harry Frontis.

Caring and nursing for her husband who became sick, he went to his eternal rest in the Lord in 1987. Pastor Diggs has served and still is serving the St. Paul Church faithfully for 75 years in many capacities, and 30 years as the pastor and now Overseer of the church.

Pastor Diggs has also been serving her organization, the Church of God in Christ Jesus Apostolic, Inc. from its conception in 1945 under the leadership of the late honorable Bishop Randolph A. Carr. She authorized the Pentecostal Young People's Union (P.Y.P.U.) for many years and she also authorized the theme for the International Women's Council.

Pastor Diggs serves as a member of the Governing Board and also the General Treasure for the Church of God in Christ Jesus Apostolic, Inc.

Pastor Diggs is a woman of courage, order, and wisdom. The honorable Pastor/Overseer, Josephine Diggs of Saint Paul Church of God in Christ Jesus Apostolic, Inc. "We Have A Goodly Heritage."
